India, Pakistan, Australia and other Asian countries are celebrating Eid ul Fitr, on the 5th of June.

On the evening of the 4th of June, people sighted the Shawwal moon and started the preparation for Eid ul Fitr, on the 5th of June.

Eid ul Fitr is marked at the beginning of Shawwal month and at the end of Ramadan. People broke their one month long holy fast and greeted each other with happiness. Eid is celebrated after witnessing the crescent moon of Shawwal month.

This year, the holy month of Ramadan began on the 7th of May and ended on the 4th of June.

The festival is the symbol of remembrance and charity. On this auspicious day, Muslims offer prayers, greet each other, engage charitable activities and remember God, Muhammad, the messenger of Allah.

In Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries, Eid was celebrated on the 4th of June, after the Shawwal moon was seen on the 3rd of June.

Many leaders, actors and politicians such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ashok Gehlot, Rahul Gandhi and Omar Abdullah took to Twitter and wished Eid to everyone.
